Silver Skate is a winter festival featuring actors, musicians, and artists. Each weekend night of the festival artists burn a sculpture that is inspired by a folk story about renewal and release.
I based the design of the castle, king, and golden apple tree on imagery from the festival’s folk story. The sculptures are built in one day of scavenged materials. Each sculpture had its own dedicated build team working no matter what the Alberta weather had to offer. Much thanks to Caitlin Audrey, Kendel Vreeling, Jonathan Luckhurst, Jordan Norman, and Calvin Allers.
